BikeBatt is a pre-ride readiness checklist for cyclists with electronic components. It helps you track battery levels across all your devices (shifters, power meters, lights, radar, GPS, headphones), check tire pressure, and remember essential gear — all in one place before you ride.
On first launch, BikeBatt comes pre-configured with a typical road bike setup. Go to the Settings tab to choose your shifting system (SRAM eTap, SRAM eTap AXS, or Shimano Di2), and the Devices tab to enable/disable items and customize brands, models, and battery check instructions for your specific gear.
On the Pre-ride check tab, tap the pencil icon next to any device. This opens the logging screen where you can set the battery percentage using the slider or quick-set buttons. The "How to check battery" section shows you where to find the battery level on that specific device.
Green (60-100%) means good to go. Orange (20-59%) means getting low — consider charging before your next ride. Red (below 20%) means critical — charge or replace before riding.
For devices with replaceable batteries (like SRAM eTap shift levers), use the "Replaced battery" button when you swap in a fresh CR2032. Over time, the app builds a history of how many days each battery lasted, so you can predict when the next one will need replacing.
Go to Settings and select your shifting system. The original SRAM RED eTap uses removable rechargeable batteries on the derailleurs (charged via USB cradle) and CR2032s in the hood levers. SRAM RED eTap AXS uses CR2032s in all four components. Shimano Di2 uses a single built-in rechargeable battery.
The circle at the top of the Pre-ride check tab shows how many devices you've checked off. When all devices are confirmed, it turns green and shows "Ready to ride." Tap the Reset button to start a fresh checklist before your next ride.
Tire pressure items show a PSI input instead of a battery percentage. The app shows a target pressure (default 90 PSI for road bikes) as guidance. Color coding is relative to the target: green if you're close, orange if you're drifting, red if you're way off.
The Gear section is for items you need to pack when driving to a ride — shoes, helmet, glasses, gloves, sunblock, nutrition. These are simple yes/no checks. Seasonal items like shoe covers are disabled by default but can be turned on in the Devices tab.
Everything is stored locally on your device. BikeBatt does not use any cloud services, does not require an account, and does not make any network requests. Your data never leaves your phone.
Deleting and reinstalling the app will reset all data. You can also reset individual device logs from the device detail screen.
Currently, data does not sync between devices. If you get a new phone, you'll need to set up your devices again. Cloud sync is on the roadmap for a future update.
If the pre-ride checklist is empty, go to the Devices tab and make sure your devices are enabled (the Active toggle should be on for each device you want in the checklist).
Go to the Devices tab and tap the + button to add a custom device. Choose the appropriate category, battery type, and add your own "how to check" instructions.
